1 Financials Stock with Impressive Fundamentals and 2 We Find Risky

Financial firms serve as the backbone of the economy, providing essential services from lending and investment management to risk management and payment processing. But uncertainty about fiscal and monetary policy has tempered enthusiasm, and over the past six months, the industry has pulled back by 1.3%. This drop was disheartening since the S&P 500 gained 8.4%.

This performance was discouraging since the S&P 500 returned 8.4%.

SK Hynix Stock, Samsung Surge as Memory Frenzy Drives KOSPI Rebound

It followed a brutal tech rout in the previous session, which mimicked the chip-stocks selloff in U.S. markets where the tech-heavy finished 0.8% lower to end a holiday-shortened week. Trading was halted on the KOSPI Thursday as the slump triggered a sell-side regulatory halt, or “circuit breaker,” very early in the morning session for 15 minutes. The Seoul market is a hostage to the benchmark index’s two largest constituents—memory-chip titans SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics —and the pair again drove the recovery Friday, surging 10.9%, and 8.2%, respectively.

US Stock Market Today: S&P 500 Futures Slip On Cooling Jobs And Rate Jitters

The Morning Bull - US Market Morning Update Friday, Jul, 3 2026 US stock futures are slightly weaker this morning, with S&P 500 contracts edging down around 0.01%, as investors weigh softer US data against rising borrowing costs. The US private sector added 98,000 jobs in June, fewer than in May and below forecasts, which hints that hiring is cooling but unemployment near 4.3% still points to plenty of people in work. At the same time, the ISM Manufacturing PMI sits at 53.3, so factories are...

Tumbling tech shares weigh on Nasdaq; investors assess soft jobs data

<body><p>STORY: U.S. stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the Dow adding more than 1.1% and posting a record closing high, the S&P 500 ending flat and the tech-heavy Nasdaq tumbling eight-tenths of a percent.</p><p>The Labor Department's nonfarm payrolls report showed the economy added 57,000 jobs in June, far below economists' estimates.</p><p>That lowered investors' expectations for a rate hike from the Federal Reserve in September to just over 50%, according to CME FedWatch.&nbsp;</p><p>But Anna Rathbun, founder and CEO of Grenadilla Advisory, said she believes a rate increase may still be on the way due to persistent inflation.</p><p>"I think the Fed interest rate expectations, to expect a hike sometime down the line, I think is a safer bet than expecting a cut." // "I mean, if the Fed is really sticking to that 2% target, we're not going to see that, in my opinion, anytime soon. And that is partly because even if oil prices go down, and it has, and that will be reflected definitely in the headline inflation number. The core inflation [number] - minus fuel, minus food - has consistently been above 2%. So that means, this is my opinion, I think that the equilibrium inflation is probably settling above the Fed's target. That means higher for longer."</p><p>Among Thursday's stock moves, technology was among the biggest sector decliners in the S&P 500.</p><p>Chip stocks were especially hard hit, with the Philadelphia semiconductor index down sharply for a second day, shedding about five and a half percent.&nbsp;</p><p>Shares of Tesla dropped seven and a half percent, even though the electric carmaker posted second-quarter deliveries above estimates. SPYI’s 0.68% Fee Could Cost You Thousands Over 20 Years—Here’s Why

If you own Neos S&P 500 High Income ETF (CBOE:SPYI) for the fat monthly checks, the mailbox math looks great. The opportunity cost is where the fund gets quiet. Over the past year, SPYI holders pocketed a 19% total return while a plain S&P 500 index fund produced 20.87%. That gap is the product. What ...
