Intel's new manufacturing tech enters initial production

Intel on Tuesday said the new generation of its 18A manufacturing process ‌has entered risk production, as the chipmaker ‌sees strong demand for its central processors. Intel CEO Lip-Bu ‌Tan has started recognizing 18A as a potential offering for external clients, reversing his earlier view that the process would generate returns only through Intel's own products, finance chief David Zinsner said in March. Compared to 18A, 18A-P delivers 9% higher performance at the ‌same power level — known as iso-power — or 18% lower power at the same processing speed, which is iso-performance, alongside improved thermals and design flexibility.

SpaceX  Launches Start of Acquisition Spree with Cursor After Historic IPO

US supercomputer taps Intel spinout Cornelis Networks for networking chips

Cornelis, an Intel spinout developing networking technology aimed at data centers, ‌on Tuesday said that its chips are now being ‌used by a U.S. supercomputer used for nuclear weapons work. Under the National Nuclear Security Administration, a trio of U.S. national labs works to develop and maintain the nation's nuclear weapons with extremely accurate computer simulations of nuclear reactions, one of the most demanding tasks in the ‌entire computing industry. Intel gets a $170 billion AI reason to matter again

For much of the artificial intelligence boom, investors have heard one simple story. Graphics processing units were at the center of it all. That thesis made Nvidia (NVDA) a must-have in the stock market. It also drove investors to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Broadcom (AVGO), Marvell Technology ...

This analyst sees Intel reaching a $5 trillion valuation

Chowdhry's thesis rests on a simple but far-reaching claim: the AI boom that enriched Nvidia is giving way to a different era. "Ai Training is the Past - Ai Inference is the Present - Ai Applications is the Future, i.e., GPUs is the Past, CPUs is the Future," he wrote, framing 2026 and beyond as the era of Intel's 18A Xeon server chips and 18A Panther Lake laptop processors, in direct contrast to 2025 and prior being Nvidia's GPU moment.
