Shares in the sportswear giant just suffered their biggest drop on record.</p><p>Its huge World Cup marketing bet delivered blockbuster sales - but profits couldn’t keep up.</p><p>Adidas went all in on football’s biggest stage - launching merchandise months before rivals Nike and Puma.</p><p>Then backed it all with a star-studded campaign featuring Timothée Chalamet, Lionel Messi and Bad Bunny.</p><p>And the campaign worked. Adidas sold four times more jerseys and twice as many footballs as the previous tournament, generating around €1.5 billion in World Cup-related sales.</p><p>But attention doesn’t come cheap. Adidas spent an extra €212 million on marketing. So was it worth it?</p><p>Adidas is racing to find its next hit as demand for its Samba and Gazelle sneakers cools.</p><p>But while trends fade, owning the world’s biggest sporting stage is something no rival can take away.</p><p>And in the battle for attention, that might just be the winning goal."</p></body>
