<body><p>STORY: Tesla posted record second-quarter deliveries on Thursday.</p><p>The automaker beat Wall Street estimates and boosted hopes that it could end its two-year streak of annual sales declines.</p><p>The company delivered more than 480,000 vehicles between April and June, up about 25% from a year ago.</p><p>It produced around 450,000 vehicles in the same period, leading the firm to reduce inventory built up earlier in the year.</p><p>:: Tesla</p><p>A rebound in Europe helped drive the strong results.</p><p>Higher fuel prices, government incentives for electric vehicles, faster fleet electrification, and a cooling backlash over boss Elon Musk’s politics all supported demand.</p><p>The performance comes as the firm relies on its core car business while Musk pushes ahead with costly ambitions in autonomous driving and AI.</p><p>In the United States, demand remained under pressure after EV tax credits were removed late last year.</p><p>But China was another bright spot.&nbsp;</p><p>Sales of China-made Teslas have increased this year, helped by an updated model and despite intense competition from BYD and other domestic automakers.</p><p>Musk's firm launched a six-seat version of the Model Y in the U.S. this week, which is expected to help revive demand in the country.</p></body>
