BlackRock is leading a debt sale targeting at least $12 billion for its massive new El Paso data-center project backed by Meta Platforms people familiar with the matter said. The world’s largest investment firm, along with its infrastructure and private-credit arms, owns an 80% stake in the Texas data-center project, while Meta Platforms, which will use the data centers, owns the other 20%. BlackRock has been plowing tens of billions of dollars into data-center investments over the past year, including a $40 billion deal to buy Aligned Data Centers.

Meta Platforms is in talks to lease computing power to Anthropic in a potential deal worth as much as $10 billion over two years, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing three people with knowledge of the discussions. Such a deal would help Meta diversify beyond its core advertising business by generating new revenue from its infrastructure investments and directly pitting it against CoreWeave and Nebius, as growing adoption of advanced tools drive up the need for computing capacity.
