Stocks rose and gasoline prices continued to fall after the U.S. and Iran signed an interim peace agreement to wind down the war, capping a holiday-shortened week on a high note. Brent crude futures, the international oil benchmark, finished the day near flat at $79.85 a barrel, about $7.50 closer than they started the week to the prewar level of about $72.50. The recent drop in oil prices has already translated into relief at the pump for Americans: The average cost of a gallon of gasoline slipped below $4 for the first time in more than two months, according to AAA.
