<body><p>STORY: From to investor worries over SpaceX AI spend to Anthropic's hacking scare ...</p><p>This is AI Weekly.</p><p>:: AI Weekly</p><p>SpaceX said it saw faster-than-expected returns from its AI spending in its first-ever earnings call as a public company.</p><p>But investors were still worried about how long its Starlink business can continue to bankroll costly investments in data centers and Nvidia chips, and shares dropped 12%.</p><p>Quarterly capital spending on AI climbed to $15.8 billion.</p><p>The company said the economics of its investments were quickly improving, but signaled AI spending would stay elevated.</p><p>Anthropic said some of its Claude AI models hacked into the systems of three companies during cybersecurity tests.</p><p>It came days after rival OpenAI revealed one of its AI agents also went on a rogue attack.</p><p>The new incidents were due to a mistake which accidentally gave Anthropic's models access to the open internet.</p><p>OpenAI's agent in contrast independently exploited a vulnerability to reach the internet during cyber testing.</p><p>Samsung posted a 250-fold jump in chip profit of $61.7 billion for the second quarter.</p><p>The world's biggest memory chipmaker also said it believes its chip shortage will run through to 2028.</p><p>But the bullish outlook didn't calm investor concerns on how AI infrastructure spending could curb growth for tech firms.</p><p>AI kept the U.S. economy growing even as overall expansion slowed down.</p><p>The so-called advance reading from the Commerce Department showed gross domestic product rose 1.5% - below economist forecasts.</p><p>But AI-related spending kept domestic demand high.</p><p>Business spending on equipment jumped more than 15%, generating a second straight quarter of double digit growth.</p></body>
