Should Caterpillar's Tariff Bill Worry You More Than Its Backlog?

Caterpillar (CAT) delivered the biggest quarter in its history, with a $72 billion order book behind it—59% of which it expects to ship over the next twelve months. The stock has gained 82.8% on a price basis over the past twelve months against 15.6% for the S&P 500, and still sits about 25% below its 52-week high. Watsco (WSO): Buy, Sell, or Hold Post Q2 Earnings?

Over the last six months, Watsco’s shares have sunk to $305.50, producing a disappointing 19.2% loss - a stark contrast to the S&P 500’s 14% gain. This was partly driven by its softer quarterly results and may have investors wondering how to approach the situation.

Berkshire Stock Peaked the Day Before Warren Buffett Said He'd Step Down as CEO

Review & Preview: Delayed Reaction

A day after the Federal Reserve’s first interest-rate increase in three years, stocks ended the day sharply higher. The rally reflected a reassessment from Wall Street, which had been fairly unmoved in the initial hours following the Fed’s move. Having slept on the hike, Wall Street apparently felt better this morning.

Yardeni on Cutting His S&P Outlook, Fed, Oil Prices

Ed Yardeni, one of the biggest stock bulls on Wall Street, talks about why he's slashing his year-end forecast for the S&P 500 Index to 7,900 from 8,400. He also says the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates two more times this year. Yardeni says Iran is likely to wreak havoc and keep oil prices elevated. He speaks on "Bloomberg Surveillance."

Powell (POWL): Buy, Sell, or Hold Post Q2 Earnings?

Although Powell (currently trading at $183.30 per share) has gained 5.3% over the last six months, it has trailed the S&P 500’s 12.9% return during that period. This was partly driven by its softer quarterly results and might have investors contemplating their next move.

Paramount Is Today’s Worst S&P 500 Stock on a Warning Against Mega-Merger

Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery long-awaited merger has been at a standstill. Barclays analysts led by Kannan Venkateshwar resumed coverage of both stocks, rating Warner Bros at Equal Weight with a $28 price target and Paramount at Underweight with a $8 price target. Venkateshwar said in a research note Thursday that while the proposed $110 billion merger could increase growth potential for the studios, it could introduce massive financial and operational risks that make the stock hard to value, and “a moving target.”
