The last big economic reports before the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decision take place later this week, with producer inflation on Thursday and the consumer price index on Friday. Traders recently were betting on a 60% chance of a rate hike at the Fed meeting Sept.
Sales are still shrinking, but GameStop expects quarterly profit to rise sharply when it reports Sept. 8.
Strong profits are masking a more complicated operating picture

Videogame retailer GameStop owns nearly 10% of e-commerce company eBay, the company said in a regulatory filing late on Friday, nearly three months after making an unsolicited offer to buy eBay for roughly $56 billion.
