Investing.com -- AT&T was upgraded to Outperform from Peer Perform by Wolfe Research, which said the telecom giant's improving operating fundamentals and attractive valuation more than offset lingering concerns over competition from SpaceX's Starlink mobile ambitions. The brokerage assigned a $29 price target, implying nearly 26% upside from the stock's recent close.

Google did not disclose an adjusted earnings figure that's comparable to analysts' expectations, which was $2.88 per share. Google saw a net gain of $98 billion, mainly as a result of gains on its equity investments — mostly in SpaceX, which went public in June.

Schwab reported a record 11.9 million daily average revenue trades in the second quarter, a 57% increase from a year earlier. Trading revenue also rose, climbing 28% to $1.2 billion.
