
Microsoft (MSFT) stock has returned about 32% since mid-June 2026. The S&P 500 returned about 3% over the same window, and peers moved in both directions: Alphabet fell 4.5% while Apple returned 14.0%. Neither came close to Microsoft, so this was not a sector tide. It was one company, and Microsoft had spent three quarters explaining out loud how internal capacity allocation decisions had constrained Azure's reported growth.
