July 21 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs has created a new platform as it looks to expand its private market offerings for wealthy clients, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Tuesday.
U.S. stocks rose broadly as chip shares staged a strong recovery and investors positioned for a wave of major technology earnings.
Chip stocks rose. Chip maker Intel was a standout, rising 8.6% ahead of its earnings report Thursday. Chip stocks have been under pressure lately as investors fret about low-cost Chinese AI models that look like strong performers.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.7%, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.3%. Micron Technology and Nvidia were the two strongest forces lifting the market as AI stocks climbed for a second straight day after tumbling the week before. The Nasdaq composite rose 329.13 points, or 1.3%, to 25,837.21.
