Banks are opening a new balance-sheet escape valve, and investors are moving in fast. Significant risk transfers, or SRTs, have become one of the fastest-growing corners of credit markets, allowing lenders to shift credit risk from loan portfolios to outside investors while reducing the regulatory capital they need to hold.
