NEW DELHI, July 27 (Reuters) - India has ordered makers of high-caffeine beverages sold as "energy drinks" to stop using that description, rejecting efforts to stall the regulatory intervention in a fast-growing market expected to be worth $1.6 billion by 2028, according to documents and sources.

Energy drink company Monster Beverage (NASDAQ:MNST) reported Q1 CY2026 results exceeding the market’s revenue expectations, with sales up 26.9% year on year to $2.35 billion. Its GAAP profit of $0.58 per share was 10.2% above analysts’ consensus estimates.
The energy-drink maker said international sales were up almost 45% for the quarter at over $1 billion, and now make up about 45% of its total revenue.
