Asian shares were mostly higher Wednesday after U.S. stocks slipped a bit further from their records, while oil prices advanced as doubts persisted over when the war with Iran will allow crude to flow freely again. Samsung Electronics gained 7.7% and memory chipmaker SK Hynix was up 7.1%. The price of a barrel of Brent crude, the international standard, was up 0.9% at $89.67 early Wednesday.

<body><p>STORY: U.S. stocks ended lower on Tuesday, with the Dow and S&P 500 each dropping about a third of a percent, and the Nasdaq shedding six-tenths of a percent.</p><p>Investors became more pessimistic about a peace deal with Iran after one of its top officials said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the U.S. does not change its behavior and accept Iran's conditions to end the war.</p><p>That kept Brent&nbsp;crude futures near one-week highs.</p><p>Liz Miller is founder and president of Summit Place Financial Advisors.</p><p>"I think investors are certainly frustrated at the back-and-forth communication flow and expectations out of our conflict with Iran. But they're also starting to try to look through this. For the longest time, investors have been saying, 'Even if there was a quick end, we knew that the effects on oil would take many months to unfold.' And so it was always about the, you know, the famous words, you know, the duration and the depth of the conflict. And what we're finding out is the depth may not be the problem, but the duration is.”</p><p>Among the day's movers, tech stocks dragged, with Amazon dipping about 2% and Alphabet and SpaceX each dropping almost 4%.</p><p>:: Nvidia</p><p>Alternative asset managers rose, with Apollo Global up more than 6% and Blackstone rallying almost 4%. They were among the financial institutions that recently partnered with Nvidia to establish compute-financing platforms aimed at ‌raising over $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure.</p><p>And shares of Super Micro Computer rose about 9% in extended trading after the server maker forecast fiscal 2027 revenue above Wall Street expectations, betting that strong demand for its AI-optimized servers would fuel another year of growth.</p><p>Investors now turn their attention to inflation readings, due over the next two days, which could be crucial in shaping market expectations on the Federal Reserve's policy path.</p></body>

And we think that's just causing, you know, a little bit of normal digestion, if you will, from the recent strong rally."</p><p>:: Intel</p><p>Also weighing on the market were shares of Intel, which fell about 4% after the chipmaker said it was planning to raise $15 billion through a share sale.</p><p>:: Nvidia</p><p>And shares of Nvidia dropped roughly 3%. A person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday that a group of financial firms, including Apollo Global and Blackstone, is working with Nvidia to put together a $500 billion funding package for AI infrastructure development.</p><p>And shares of Rocket Lab, down more than 3% at the close, fell further in extended trading after the aerospace company forecast third-quarter gross margin below Wall Street expectations, as sales of lower-margin satellite platforms are set to make up a larger share of its business.</p></body>

And so, if that's the case, those areas of the economy that are most, kind of, cyclical and expansionary, things like industrials, consumer cyclicals, technology, those three sectors, for example, are up nicely I think on this news.”</p><p>Stocks on the move Friday, included Elon Musk's SpaceX, which surged nearly 16% a day after the expiration of the first of several share lockup restrictions following its record-breaking June public offering.</p><p>Shares of collaboration software maker Atlassian shot up more than 35% for their largest-ever daily percentage gain.</p><p>:: Archive</p><p>while Microchip Tech's stock jumped almost 14% for its best daily performance in more than 15 months. Both moves came after the companies forecast quarterly revenue above Wall Street estimates.</p><p>And shares of Airbnb climbed more than 17% as the S&P 500's best performer after the vacation rental company beat second-quarter revenue estimates.</p><p>On the flip side, Trade Desk was the S&P 500's worst performer, with shares plunging nearly 22% after the ad-tech firm forecast third-quarter revenue below expectations.</p></body>
