Nvidia launches PC chip to bring AI directly to personal computers

<body><p>STORY: Nvidia unveiled a major new chip in Taiwan on Monday (June 1).</p><p>The RTX Spark PC chip brings AI capabilities directly into laptops and desktop computers.</p><p>Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang spoke at the Computex Conference in Taiwan about the firm's latest innovation.</p><p>“There is no question this reinvention of the computer is as big of a deal as the reinvention of the phone into what we now know as the smartphone. And so this is the beginning of that journey."</p><p>He added its part of Nvidia's effort with Microsoft to 'reinvent' the PC for the AI era after three years of collaboration between the firms.</p><p>The chip is designed to run AI agents locally rather than rely solely on cloud computing, and due to be delivered this fall.</p><p>Some analysts believe it could transform how users engage with AI.</p><p>One market watcher told Reuters the chip aims to transform traditional app-centric PC's into Agentic&nbsp;AI personal computers.</p><p>Huang also showed off Nvidia's new Vera central processing unit - or CPU - at Computex.</p><p>It's designed for AI agents, and early adopters include OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX.</p><p>&nbsp;“This is going to be our new major growth driver. The reviews are already coming out and it’s pretty good. That’s pretty good stuff.”</p><p>Huang said last month the new Vera CPUs gives the firm access to a new $200 billion market.</p><p>Leaders of some of the world's largest technology companies are heading to Computex.</p><p>The trade show runs from June 2 to June 5.</p></body>
