Global airlines' push to attract premium customers is making fast in-flight Wi-Fi an increasingly important perk, turning a once-patchy paid service into an emerging battleground between Elon Musk's Starlink and Jeff Bezos' Amazon Leo satellite network. Starlink, which operates around two-thirds of all satellites in space and is the major driver of revenue for SpaceX, has signed up 11 new airline customers globally so far in 2026, after 22 in 2025 and eight in 2024, compared with three in 2022, according to Valour Consultancy, an aviation intelligence firm. Amazon, which is still building out its Leo satellite constellation, faces a potential setback after a Blue Origin rocket failure last month.

Such is life on Wall Street at the dawn of the artificial-intelligence build-out. Tech companies are hungry for cash to invest in data centers, and investors are forking it over through all possible means, in all parts of the globe—a flurry of fundraising that has mostly supported markets by powering technological advances, even as it tests their ability to absorb it all. Alphabet’s announcement that it would raise $85 billion of equity was just the latest example.
Every company gets one shot to redefine what it is. Most never take it. The ones that do tend to look unrecognizable a few years later, and the market either rewards the reinvention or punishes the nerve. The artificial intelligence (AI) boom has turned raw computing power into the most valuable ...

Amazon.com said it entered a multibillion-dollar agreement with Corning to get optical fiber, cable and connectivity solutions to support its growing data center footprint.
Amazon said on Monday it has signed a multi-billion-dollar deal with specialty glass maker Corning aimed at boosting U.S. production of optical fiber and connectivity products that are used in data centers. Amazon, however, did not disclose any further financial details on the partnership. Shares of Corning rose about 7% in early trading, as the partnership came as a fresh boost to the company's fast-growing fiber optics unit, at a time when weak consumer electronics demand has weighed on the segment that makes Gorilla glass.
I've watched plenty of companies chase a hot trend and spend their way into trouble. The story usually looks thrilling on the way up and painful on the way down. Oracle is the latest name testing that thesis. The software giant is pouring tens of billions of dollars into data centers to grab a ...
The UK competition regulator on Monday launched a probe into eBay's $1.2 billion purchase of Gen Z-focused fashion resale platform Depop from Etsy. The deal was announced earlier this year and is expected to help Etsy double down on its core handmade and vintage goods marketplace in pursuit of a turnaround. The firm has been grappling with softer demand and strong competition from online e-commerce platforms such as Amazon.
