Still, steep interest rates and continued inflation continue to keep homeowners from taking out debt to tackle larger, months-long renovations, CFO Richard McPhail said in an interview.

Revenue for the Atlanta company increased to $47.86 billion from $45.28 billion, edging out the $47.24 billion that Wall Street had expected, according to a survey by FactSet. And what these companies are doing really to help the lower leg of the K-shaped economy, as well as trying to capture market share of people who are trying to stretch the dollar a little bit further coming from the middle class."</p><p>Among individual stock moves, Microsoft and Meta Platforms provided the biggest drags on the S&P 500, with both declining more than 3%.</p><p>Chip stocks provided a boost with Micron Technology adding 4% and Applied Materials climbing 5.5%.</p><p>Meanwhile, oil futures settled up more than $2 per barrel as investor pessimism about diplomatic efforts to resolve the Iran war fanned global supply worries. That provided a boost to stocks of energy companies.</p><p>Energy was the sole gainer among the S&P 500's 11 major sectors.</p></body>

The 2026 Q2 earnings season is slowly winding down, though there still remains a solid chunk of notable companies slated to report, including two peers with many similarities, namely Home Depot (HD) and Lowe's (LOW).
