Historic Tesla and SpaceX Merger Looks More Likely. Is This Sell-Off Your Best Buying Opportunity Yet?

The market has spent the past two years rewarding companies tied to artificial intelligence, robotics, and next-generation infrastructure. Investors are increasingly looking beyond a company’s original business and looking more closely at which ecosystem is building it. That shift is key because some of today’s biggest winners no longer fit neatly into a single industry. ... Historic Tesla and SpaceX Merger Looks More Likely. AMD expected to launch next generation of AI infrastructure to challenge Nvidia

Advanced Micro Devices is set to launch a raft of AI hardware that ‌will rival Nvidia on Thursday at an event at a downtown convention ‌center in San Francisco. AMD is attempting to capture market share from Nvidia in the fast-growing data center chip sector, especially for so-called inference computing, which is the data crunching that occurs when a user queries a chatbot such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. AMD is expected to show off the company's data center hardware that includes its first-generation server racks called Helios, which ‌it is marketing as a rival to a similar design from Nvidia, which is rolling out its second-generation product this year.

Exclusive-Intel, AMD sign long-term server CPU deals with Chinese clients as prices surge, sources say

U.S. chipmaking giants Intel and Advanced Micro Devices are signing longer-term purchase commitments with Chinese server customers for data-centre processors as prices ‌surge, two people familiar with the talks said. The move highlights a broader consequence of the ‌AI boom: demand has spread beyond AI accelerators to memory, networking gear and server processors, giving suppliers greater leverage to seek long-term purchase deals. AI data centres require not only Nvidia-style graphics processors (GPUs) but also large numbers of central processing units (CPUs) to support servers, storage, networking and inference workloads.

Nvidia, Micron just got hit by an AI model from Beijing

Every market boom eventually runs into the same problem, and it rarely shows up where investors expect it. You ride a simple story — in this case, artificial intelligence needs endless chips and data centers — straight up the chart until the numbers stop feeling real. Then something jolts the ...
