What Is SpaceX’s ‘Green-Shoe’ Option?

If SpaceX shares start trading erratically, bankers have a secret weapon to attempt to calm things down. Underwriters typically sell more shares to investors than an IPO’s total offer size, colloquially called the green shoe. In SpaceX’s case, they sold about 15% more shares than the stated offering size.

Oracle shares slide as hefty AI spending, debt plans spook investors

Oracle shares tumbled 12% on Thursday as surging spending and a ballooning debt load fanned investor concerns about the cash burn in ‌the company's push to build out AI infrastructure. A smaller player in the cloud-computing industry for a long time, Oracle has in recent months seized massive data-center deals with OpenAI and Meta to compete more forcefully with rivals, such as Amazon and Microsoft. But Oracle lacks the large cash flows that have primarily funded the tech giants' outlays, forcing it to burn cash and sell debt instruments ‌at a time its traditional software business is under pressure from the very AI tools it plans to support through its cloud.

Wall Street buckles up for SpaceX liftoff, hoping for a glitch-free ride

As SpaceX prepares for its record-breaking $75 billion market debut with great fanfare, Wall Street traders, brokers and exchanges are working nonstop to make sure their trading systems can handle the blockbuster IPO and avoid the chaos that marred other highly anticipated launches. Weighing heavily is Facebook's infamous debut in ‌2012, which was upended by technical glitches that turned into hours of uncertainty over whether trades had been properly executed, ultimately costing market-makers hundreds of millions of dollars. Financial firms have undergone ‌weeks of preparation to ensure SpaceX's Friday trading debut is a success, particularly ahead of other blockbusters expected later this year from Anthropic and OpenAI.
