Coca-Cola’s new flavors reveal larger strategy

Coca-Cola (KO) just gave its fans something new, but it’s not making it easy to get. The beverage giant just rolled out five new flavors, doubling down on a strategy that looks far from being a typical soda launch and more of a scarcity play. So it’s not looking to flood grocery aisles or ...

Coca-Cola launches exclusive soda flavor at fast-food giant

Coca-Cola (KO) has a secret weapon in the soda wars, and it’s not simply another bottle on the grocery-store shelf. A big part of that is its Freestyle machine, which gives customers something PepsiCo has never been really able to match at the same scale. Now Coca-Cola is using that advantage again ...

Kalshi Finagled a World Cup Sponsorship Deal at a Deep Discount

(Bloomberg) -- When the World Cup knockout round began Sunday, Kalshi joined the likes of Coca-Cola, Visa and Adidas with sideline advertising in the stadiums — an unusual addition, given that the event is halfway over, and also that FIFA already signed up an “official prediction markets partner” in ADI Predictstreet, a startup with ties to the Abu Dhabi royal family. Coke, IRS Clash in Appeals Court Over $20 Billion Tax Fight

Coca-Cola asked a federal appeals court Thursday to overturn a U.S. Tax Court decision that put the company on the hook for more than $20 billion in taxes and interest, contending that the Internal Revenue Service engaged in an unfair and retroactive bait-and-switch in how it calculated Coke’s foreign profits. The IRS challenged Coke’s tax returns for 2007 through 2009, and the outcome of the case will affect the company’s payments for every year since then. Gregory Garre, arguing for the company before a three-judge panel in Miami, pointed to a 1996 Coke-IRS agreement and subsequent IRS statements that accepted the company’s method for calculating how much profit was assigned to the U.S. and how much was attributed to lower-taxed foreign countries.
