Seoul once again led losses on a mixed day in Asian stocks Tuesday as chip giant Samsung tumbled despite an eye-watering rise in profit, stoking fears that the record-breaking, AI-fuelled rally may have reached the end of the road.South Korean titan Samsung appeared to have answered some of those Tuesday as it said it expected to post a more than 1,800 percent jump in second-quarter operating profit thanks to sustained AI-driven demand for memory chips.

Tech was back in the driver’s seat to start the week, as artificial intelligence plays looked to make up lost ground. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3% for its 21st record close in 2026, while the S&P 500 rose 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.1%. Relatively benign background conditions bolstered the rally.

The company is set to debut on the Nasdaq later this week.</p><p>:: Microsoft</p><p>Elsewhere in the market, shares of Microsoft slipped after the tech heavyweight said it was cutting more than 2% of its workforce, or roughly 4,800 jobs.</p><p>And shares of SpaceX dipped 1% with over $26 billion worth of its shares exchanged, most of that in the final seconds of the session. Elon Musk's rocket and AI giant is set to join the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 on Tuesday.</p></body>
