It takes a lot for artificial-intelligence trade-related companies to impress Wall Street with earnings or guidance these days, but Teradyne has done just that. Shares of the semiconductor test equipment manufacturer rose 9% to $338.43 on Wednesday after the company late Tuesday reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and solid quarterly guidance. Teradyne posted adjusted earnings of $2.47 a share in the second quarter, up from 57 cents a year ago and well above Wall Street’s expectation of $2.09.
Chip-testing equipment maker Teradyne forecast third-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on Tuesday, betting on a sustained rise in investment in wafer fabrication equipment, sending the company's shares up 13.5% in extended trading. Growing demand for more complex and powerful chips used in AI data centers and vehicles has driven the need for sophisticated, higher-priced testing equipment, benefiting suppliers such as Teradyne. The company is a supplier of automated test equipment used to verify the quality and reliability of semiconductors.
Teradyne reported higher second-quarter revenue and profit as the artificial intelligence boom fueled growth in its business providing testing equipment for semiconductors.
Teradyne, Inc. (TER) gained 3,163% since last first outlier inflow signal in March 1995.
Investing.com -- Shares in Teradyne jumped more than 6% in premarket trading Thursday after the stock received an upgrade at JPMorgan, with the bank’s analysts flagging an attractive entry point following a nearly 20% post-earnings selloff.
