
PayPal shares are tumbling 13% in premarket trading after Bloomberg reported that a group including payments company Stripe and private-equity firm Advent International have abandoned their pursuit of the fintech company. If the losses hold, that stands to be one of PayPal's biggest drops in the past decade. After reaching a peak market cap of well over $300 billion in 2021, PayPal has languished in the last few years as it's struggled to compete in the payments-technology space.
